Patrick is many things – educator, rehabilitated lawyer, accidental horse doula – but above all, he is a writer. His favorite topics to explore are the intense daily collisions between the rigors of traditional life and the insanity of modernity, the uncanny that lurks just beneath the surface sheen of normality, and life in an imagined reality somehow both better and worse than that which we have created for ourselves here. His characters, like all of us, are flawed creatures scratching around in the dirt and waiting for the light. The literary angel and devil that sit on his shoulders are Jhumpa Lahiri and Kafka (respectively, but you knew that).
He is one half of the screenwriting duo Griffin & Hanley, focused there on telling timeless stories to modern audiences.
